The Montgomery Fire Department works to help our community all year long and that didn't stop today as firefighters collected donations for the muscular dystrophy association for the annual fill the boot campaign.

The Fill The Boot drive has collected over $300 million nationwide for the MDA since its launch in 1954.

Organizers for Montgomery's campaign say they expect to raise over $100,000 this year alone.

Firefighters did have to take a break from the fundraising when a man inside the store where they were collecting donations apparently fainted and they worked to stabilize him.

The man was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
