As you get ready to shop for that perfect Thanksgiving turkey, there is one lucky bird in Alabama that won't have to worry about becoming someone's dinner.

Gov. Robert Bentley pardoned the Clyde the turkey in a ceremony at the Governor's Mansion.

Bates Family Farm in Greenville has been providing the turkey for 63 years, since the days of Gov. Big Jim Folsom. The turkey is always named Clyde.

Unfortunately, Bill Bates himself wasn't able to attend due to illness. All of us at CBS 8 News hope he gets better in time for Thanksgiving.
