Four Days Remaining In Legislative Session

The republican leadership in the Alabama legislature says they are on track to pass bills to improve schools and changes to the states immigration law.

There are only 4 days left in this legislative session, and bills that were at the top of the GOP agenda have hit some roadblocks but they are expected to pass. Still hanging in the balance are controversial bills like the measure that allows Charters schools and changes to the states immigration law. Speaker of the House Mike Hubbard says in perfect world all of the bills at the top of the GOP list would have already passed, but delays by democrats have sometimes held up the process. "The charter schools legislation is not what we wanted and now we get to take our shot at it and hopefully we will be able to get it out by the end of the session" Hubbard said Friday.

Lawmakers still have to pass the most important bills in the 4 remaining days, the general fund and education budget.
