Hundreds of Gun Buyers Gather at Montgomery Gun Show
By Brittany Bivins

Hundreds of people are gathered at Garrett Coliseum for the Montgomery Gun Show this weekend. It's part of an increase in popularity in gun shows across the state.

"It's been enormous, okay, I've never seen the types of crowds we've had recently, and I've been in this business for over 15 years," said Fred Augat, who was selling guns.

"I know that especially at the beginning of the year, it seemed like there was more, you know, the mad dash, kind of thing," said Susan Ashworth, promoter for the show.

At shows like these, you won't just find guns, but accessories like scopes and holsters. One thing you won't find much of, though is ammunition. That's because most of the supply has already ben sold.

"The problem now is getting product, we can't get enough product in. we're getting allocated a small amount of product by manufacturers, because the demand is so high," said Augat.

This week, legislators blocked a bill that would have tightened restrictions on gun buyers. But gun owners say

they'll keep coming, no matter what's going on in Washington.," said Hanalei Eastman

This was the first Montgomery Gun Show to be held at Garrett Coliseum. Promoters hope to make it a regular event.

"I have a lot of friends that come out here just because they want to see what everybody has and what they can trade for, and newer parts and guns. I don't really think it has a lot to do with politics, but I do hear a lot more about it
