Hyundai Motor Manufacturing in Alabama plans to add a third shift to its Montgomery facility to increase the production of cars.

The company announced Monday that it will add 877 positions at the plant, increasing the total number of workers to about 3,000.

Job applications and pre-employment training will begin this summer, and the third shift will start in September.

The plant produces the Korean automaker's Sonata and Elantra models. The Alabama-built Sonatas represent more than 30 percent of Hyundai's U.S. sales.
