How Much Will It Cost to Go to the BCS Game If You Planned Your Trip Today?

Many Alabama fans planned their trip to Miami right after the Tide won the SEC Championship. But for those of you who haven't made travel arrangements and are still thinking about heading South, is it too late, and how much will it cost you?

After our research and help from a travel agent, we found out there are plane tickets left and a handful of hotel rooms available on the outskirts of town, but if you're thinking about heading to Miami, get ready to pay big bucks.

"Limited seating throughout the day tomorrow, and Sunday limited seating," says Total Sports Travel agent Kristine Vawter as she scrolls through her computer.

Vawter has booked dozens of trips for Alabama fans headed to the BCS National Championship Game.

She says you can still get a flight out of Montgomery to Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach. There are around 20 open seats Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, but every minute you wait, the price goes up.

"So if you wanted to return Tuesday, you are looking at over $1,000 round trip. Probably $1,400 round trip," Vawter says. "If you'd wanted to stay after Tuesday, you'd probably cut that in half."

And then tack on a place to stay, which Vawter says you'll only find on the outskirts of Miami.

"There's a Hampton Inn for $250 a night. It does have a minimum. You have to stay three nights," Vawter says.

So now you're total is over $2,000, and that's not even including a game ticket. On StubHub, they're running on average $1,000 for the upper deck.

"And you haven't eaten anything!" says Vawter

So would you pay that much to go to the game?

"The economy being the way it is, it's just way too expensive right now," says Bama fan Teresa Lawnsdale.

That's why many Bama fans like Macy Matthews planned ahead.

"We went to the SEC Championship, and as soon as we won that, we booked our hotel for Miami," she says.

But if you get that urge to see the Tide take on Notre Dame, just remember It's not too late.

"It's just how much are you willing to spend," says Vawter.

You can always drive down to Miami. It took our news crew 12 hours and around $150 in gas.
