"It Can Wait" No Texting While Driving Campaign Set for Sept. 19Montgomery city and county officials are taking part in a campaign next week against texting and driving. Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange turned his weekly news conference into a rally for the event, citing astounding statistics about the danger of distracted driving. Montgomery city and county law enforcement officers will take part in the one-day crackdown, looking for violators next Wednesday, September 19. Booker T. Washington High School sophomore Rachael Boutwell is encouraging her fellow teens to adopt the "it can wait" philosophy about texting. She's distributing orange thumb rings from AT&T as a reminder. I joined online. I'm all for this. I was involved in an auto accident in april due to someone texting and driving. The lady who hit me was texting and ran into my family head on. I suffered from a broken femur, dislocated and broken jaw, broken thumb and severe whiplash. I went into the windshield. The emt's on scene said I should have died. Texting is very dangerous.
