Rapper Lil Boosie is coming to Montgomery to perform at the Mansion nightclub and some say police presence is necessary for the event. But Montgomery Police Chief Kevin Murphy has said he's against using his men to monitor nightclubs. So could this event get out of hand?

Lil Boosie was just released from prison earlier this month, so many are expecting this event to sell out. Tickets went on sale just days ago.

The last time a well-known rapper performed in a Montgomery nightclub, shots were fired and three people were killed, including local rapper Doe B. Now, some say Lil Boosie's appearance at the Mansion could mean trouble.

" I don't think he should come down here after the whole Doe B shooting," says De'Erica Ford. "I just think we need time to just chill and I think that's going to spark something else."

Boosie, who's no stranger to trouble, was just released from prison after pleading guilty to drug charges. But some say he's welcome in Montgomery.

We encourage rappers to come," says Denise Chestnut. "We want the rappers to come in our community."

The Mansion nightclub sits in Councilmen Jon Dow's district. Dow also serves on the city's public safety committee. He says he'd like city police to monitor nightclub parking lots, especially for big events.

"We do understand that working with the security patrol or the security officers that are in place, is a good deterrent but we want to make sure that we as a city do all we can to protect our citizens."

But Police Chief Kevin Murphy is against using policemen in nightclub parking lots, telling us better training security guards is the answer.

"For a very thing that we are tasked with enforcing and providing oversight, we're working for them and I see a huge conflict of interest there."

Murphy is currently drafting an ordinance regarding nightclub safety to be considered by public safety committee.

Three people were injured in a shooting that happened in the parking lot of the Mansion nightclub last month.
