There are some teachers who inspire both inside and outside of the classroom touching the lives of everyone they come in contact with. A teacher at an Elmore County School fits that exact description.

October is breast cancer awareness month and if there is anyone who knows something about breast cancer, it's Eclectic Middle School teacher Karon Lee. Lee is a three time breast cancer survivor who is now fighting an aggressive form of thyroid cancer. The 7th grade language arts teacher is very popular among the students and said to be a very stabilizing force on campus.

Student Will Venable says Mrs. Lee is a favorite among many students. "She's probably one of my favorite teachers, she's just really inspirational and just doesn't give up whenever she has something to do."

Another student, Janna Venable, also commented. "She's one of those people that whenever you're around her you're happy and you just want to be a better person every time you see her. I love Mrs. Lee."

Students and faculty wore custom t-shirts in support of the veteran teacher. Each shirt has a pink ribbon with Lee's name inscribed on it and some of her favorite song lyrics on the back. Starting Monday, the shirts will be on sale for $10 with proceeds going to support the schools' Relay for Life team.
