Montgomery Church Members Speak About Triple Homicide Victims

While the search is on tonight for the person responsible for the triple homicide in Lowndes County, family and friends attended a prayer meeting at their Montgomery church tonight. The shocking news that they won't be back, weighed heavy on everyone's hearts.

Family and friends worst fears have been confirmed. Nine-year-old twins, Jordan and Taylor Dejerinett, and their caretaker, 73 year-old Jack Girdner are no longer missing. They have been found dead on this dirt road just off of Highway 21, near Hayneville.

"It's a shock. To know that somebody that you knew, that was close, was taken like that. It's not real yet," said Gary Strong.

Strong attended church with Girdner and has known him for almost 50 years. He describes him as a do-gooder, a man who loved God, and always wanted to help.

"He liked to help people and if you needed something, he would give you the shirt off his back," said Strong.

"In my opinion, he probably died trying to protect those kids," said Rebecca Nettles Myrick.

Myrick attends a Montgomery church where she says Girdner also attended. His friends say this is where he became close friends with Jordan and Taylor Dejerinett and their family. Now a community is left devastated.

"It's disbelief. We can't believe this has happened. It's just a state of shock," said Myrick.

The twins' family was at their home on Wednesday mourning their tragic loss and just waiting for answers.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation does have a person of interest who they do want to question. That person is Deandra Lee who's last known address is just right across the street from where the Dejerinett family lives.

"I don't know if we will find out why this person did this, but I'm going to pray for that person too because he is someone's child and he would have to be a sick person that did this," said Myrick.

The investigation and search for the person of interest is ongoing.

My heart and prayers go to the mother of these beautiful twins..and to family of their caretaker..This to me is extremely cruel and evil ..Done to innocent victims that certainly did not deserve this.

I don't think this child killer needs prayer, i think these children and this elderly gentleman need justice. The "person of interest" is a man who was on trial for a double murder, and the attempted murder of another man. For whatever reason he was acquitted. If he had been found guilty and put on death row then there would not be three dead people today. It amazes me how some people are so quick to forgive a killer, and then diagnosis him with a mental illness. He is not sick, he is pure evil. And all the prayers in the world won't change the fact that he is evil. It sadly takes the murder of children for him to finally be held accountable for his crimes. He is a coward. None of the three victims could have defended themselves. One of the victims was an elderly man, and the other two victims were kids. As most killers are he was a coward. To kill anyone is wrong but to kill defenseless children and an old man is unspeakable and is just pure evil. Pray for the victims families.
