Montgomery Officials Tout Lower Crime Rates for 2012

Montgomery city officials are touting lower crime statistics for the first part of the year. From January 1st through april 30th there were 8 homicides this year.  That's down from 11 in the same time period last year.

There were 126 fewer burglaries in the first four months in the city compared to last year.

There were also decreases in felony sex cases, aggravated assaults, violent and non-violent crimes.

But there has been an increase auto thefts- 14 more cars were stolen the first four months of this year when compared to last year.
