Montgomery Police Investigate 34th Homicide

The Montgomery Police Department is investigating the city’s 34th homicide this year following the shooting death Thursday morning of 24-year-old Antavious Butler.


MPD and Fire Medics responded to the 600 block of Groveland Drive at about 1:30 a.m. after receiving a report of shots fired. At the scene, they located Butler, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.


The circumstances surrounding this fatal shooting are unknown at this time. No arrests have been made.


Butler’s death is Montgomery’s 34th homicide of 2013. No additional information is available for release relative to this ongoing investigation.

Sad and praying for all 34 victims family and friends in Montgomery. We marched for Trayvon Martin when we should have been marching for Montgomery as a whole now, is the time before it's too late and we Hare to go back to living like the wild West...
