While families prepare for fun in the sun this Memorial Day Weekend, there's a warning police want you to take seriously. Keep a close eye on your children. A scary incident at a Montgomery park last week, is reminding parents why they need to keep their guard up.

Ball playing at Buddy Watson Park is typically a fun, family affair.

"It's been such a nice environment," said baseball parent, Karen Segura.

"We look forward to coming out here," said parent, Charlene Long.

But that care free attitude has changed for many parents who bring their children to the park.

"We've all felt pretty safe letting the kids run around and play, but now I think everybody is just keeping a much closer eye on their children," said Segura.

It's all following a disturbing incident Montgomery Police say happened last Friday, during gameday at the ball park. Police Chief Kevin Murphy says an 8-year-old girl was approached by a man at the concessions stand, who tried to lure her away from the park.

"The good news is that this child was not harmed. She did what any child at that age should do. She went to her parents," said Chief Murphy.

Now police want to find this person of interest, a white male they believe to be between 60 and 70 years of age, and around six feet tall.

In response, police have also stepped up their presence in Montgomery parks.

"Obviously we can't be in every park, all the time, but we are going to do our best to be as visible as we can," said Chief Murphy.

And from now on, parents are keeping their guard up and close watch on their children.

"You won't feel safe or relaxed when your children are running around now. You just have to always keep an eye on them," said Long.

Of course Montgomery Police say it is very important to notify them if you do notice anything suspicious. In this case, police say the incident happened last Friday, May 18th, but it was not brought to their attention until Wednesday, and at that point Chief Murphy said the trail was pretty cold.

Police believe the person of interest is a white male, between 5'10" and 6 feet tall, between 60 and 70 years of age, with a gray mustache. Police say he was wearing an orange polo-style shirt, blue cap, and old dress shoes.
