Montgomery Scores with All-Star College Football Game

The all new, All Star college football game will give the best in college football a chance to show off in front of scouts, while giving Montgomery a chance to show off in front of the entire nation.

Montgomery is making its mark in college football.

"We have a vision for this game. It has the opportunity to be the premier college all star game in America," said Johnny Williams, Executive Director of the All Star college football game.

The game will bring the best 100 players in the nation and former NFL players as their coaches, to play at Cramton Bowl.

"Everything is vamping up downtown and it's giving us some shine, a little bit," said Montgomery resident, Anna Nichols.

The spotlight will be shining on and off the field. Organizers are planning for activities all week long with musical acts and events.

The All Star game sounds like big bucks to downtown businesses.

"Oh, no doubt about it. Probably will be 30 or 40,000 people in town. It'll be good for the whole city of Montgomery. I'm looking forward to it," said Bert Miller with Dreamland BBQ.

This inaugural All Star game is expected to bring thousands to the city of Montgomery, but Mayor Todd Strange says it's not just about revenue dollars, it's about thrusting Montgomery back into the national sport spotlight and as many as 100 million eyes could be on this field.

"The more significant situation is that we make a great impression to those that are here and those that are watching," said Strange.

Mayor Strange says while the city will pay thousands for things like trash pick-up, security and ushering costs for the game, the city will not pay for bringing the event to town.

"Johnny Williams and his group, they have the financial obligation. We have not committed to putting any dollars into the event," said Strange.

The game will be played at Cramton Bowl on January 19th of 2013 and broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
