More people are dying from not wearing their seatbelts in car crashes.

That's according to a new report from the Alabama Department of public Safety.

According to preliminary crash data, 53 people died in crashes in Alabama last month.

28 of them were not wearing seatbelts.

In September, 15 of the 42 people killed in crashes were not buckled in.

According to state troopers investigations, 59% of all people killed on Alabama roadways in 2012 were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
