More Than 600 Jobs Up For Grabs

By Sarah Cantey

Hundreds braved the heat, waiting in line for hours outside of the Wetumpka Civic Center. Hoping to get one of the more than 600 jobs up for grabs at the soon to open casino expansion.

The Wind Creek casino floor will open up December 17th and the hotel will be open late January or middle February.
They were hiring everything from accountants, to housekeepers, to game attendants.
More than 2,000 people are unemployed in Elmore County alone. Many people were hired on the spot.

This was a very unorganized event... There should have been ropes out in the first place and I was personally one of the people who had been there all morning and got pushed to the back twice after the bumrush happened. I stuck it out with two friends and didnt get inside until 12 hours after arriving at the civic center and getting in line. Also had to park in the parking deck and wait an hour for the shuttle. But after all my patience it payed off because I walked out at midnight that night with a job. But next time they should be more organized.

The people at PCI Gaming are racist !!! Putting the Indians in the front of the line while other suffered. Sue these people.

First, if you had your child there, I fault you. Secondly, common sense tells you that it was going to be a crowd, so be prepared.

It was unbelievably disorganized. Stood in line for 8 hours before getting inside. The Casino staff didn't do a thing to make the queue better until about 5 PM and then everything they did made it worse and Much, much slower!! They didn't give out any drinks until HOURS after people had been in the sweltering heat and many people fell to the ground from the heat. It was absolutely the biggest blunder I've ever seen. They should be ashamed of how they treated the crowd of people and not having a way to prevent all the line jumpers. Several fights broke out and people just got out of line and left after waiting for hours. Shame, shame, shame PCI Gaming!!!

who were close to the front. They tied a crime scene rope around these poor people, and everyone was touching elbow to elbow. Then, the same overweight tribal policeman who started the major problem, told everyone to move to the far left and right who were in the crime scene ropes toward the front. Everyone was fighting to get to the outside of the lines, and more people were suffering small injuries because of his direction. Then, for his amusement, he started letting people that were not in the far left or right go through the ropes first. It was cruel-especially for women that had children. One of those kids or babies could have been trampled to death, and I am not exaggerating. Sincerely, Brad

The organizers of the Creek Casino job fair should be sued for not having any EMTs on standby and insufficient water for applicants. There was no shade, and people were dropping like flies in the huge line. I personally saw 8 ambulances the two hours I was there. My daughter suffered through six hours before she left from heat exhaustion. There were fights in the lines, and applicants uninvolved were getting pushed, shoved and elbowed because there was not enough room to get out the way. One man who looked like a full-blooded Native American was taken out of the line and allowed to go inside early to apply. I will never spend a dime there. The overweight tribal chief policeman told everyone to make two lines. That is when a riot broke out. Everything was becoming a little more peaceful until he gave that stupid instruction. Then, people who were there hours earlier, got shoved to the back of the line when the lines merged. Finally, the security guards squashed everyone in like sardines
