According to the Auburn Police Department, officers are still on the scene of a Saturday night shooting involving multiple victims at an off campus housing complex.

“We have been working since about 9:30 p.m. last night,” Auburn Police Chief Tommy Dawson told CBS-8 News.

Police taped off University Heights Apartments, located at 202 West Longleaf Drive, the complex is close to the Auburn University campus. According to sources at the scene, many Auburn University athletes live in the apartments.

Chief Tommy Dawson would not confirm the number of victims involved in the shootings, their condition or if there were any fatalities.

Social media has played a role in spreading unconfirmed information about the case, including that some Auburn football players were involved in the shooting, however CBS-8 News can not confirm any of those reports.

A Disaster Relief Trailer was also brought to the complex and aided the multiple police units at the scene of the shooting.

Authorities are not releasing much information about the case at this time, but Chief Dawson said the Auburn Police Department and Auburn University will have a joint press conference Sunday afternoon.

CBS-8 News will have more details behind the shooting as it becomes available. We have crews working on the story and will have a live report from Auburn at 5:30 p.m. You can also follow our latest updates on Twitter or Facebook.
