Officials: Boston Bombers were From Chechen region

WATERTOWN, Mass. (AP) - A Boston Marathon bombing suspect killed in a shootout with police in a Boston suburb has been identified as coming from the Russian region near Chechnya. The other suspect, also from the Chechen region, is still the object of a massive manhunt after an MIT police officer was shot and killed. The second suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

 

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration has begun a process to remove barriers from health privacy laws that prevent the reporting of people with mental health problems to the background check system for gun purchases. They action comes after the Senate blocked an effort to expand background checks. Not all states are providing mental health data due to privacy requirements.
