It's a big money maker for these travel agencies trying to get you to your destination, but here's the catch -- about 80 percent of people book their tickets within the first seven days.
Phones ringing off the hook -- many of those callers are Tigers fans who plan to travel more than 2,000 miles away to Pasadena, California for a football showdown next month.
Trey Garner says he plans to spend about $1,500 on flight and hotel arrangements for himself -- and that's without game tickets...
"I'm going to find a way to get out there and make sure that I'm around that atmosphere. I'm going to end up finding a way to get inside that game," Said Garner, who is one of hundreds who are booking travel arrangements now.
Morris Capouya, owner of Total Sports Travel, says they've sold more than 800 packages in 16 hours.
But if you don't act fast, you could see a lot of sold out packages.
"The sooner you can book the more options you have at your disposal, you know the later you wait in the game, the options, as far as hotel options, they're going to become slimmer," Said Capouya.
He says hotel accomodations are about $1,000 a person. Airfare alone is about $1,300, which includes transportation.
"But there are services included. I mean, we're flying you from central Alabama into LAX and providing you transfers to the hotel, baggage handling," Said Capouya.
And whether you plan to go with a travel agency or make travel plans on your own, one thing is for sure: time is of the essence.
"When you factor in getting out there, plane tickets, staying and then food and everything else that comes with it," Said Garner.
And that's all without tickets -- we've seen tickets averaging around $1,300. The cheapest at $950.
The same rules go for Alabama Crimson Tide fans heading to New Orleans to play against Oklahoma. That game will be on January 2.
Capouya recommends using a travel agency and buying travel insurance. He says the lower rate packages will likely disappear this week.
