CBS 8 Political Analyst Steve Flowers was on CBS 8 News at 10:00 with his insight into why voters approved the constitutional amendment to aid the General Fund budget.

By about a 2-to-1 margin, state voters passed the amendment, which will take $437 million dollars from the Alabama trust fund over three years to help the General Fund budget, which funds items such as Medicaid and prisons.

Flowers says supporters used direct mail and the Internet in order to reach targeted voting groups, instead of relying on TV ads.

But Flowers says after the three years is up, the state will still be left with the same questions on how to pay for items in the General Fund budget.
