The Prattville City Council has voted to extend a one-cent sales tax hike, possibly until 2031.

CBS 8 News was at the council meeting when the council decided to extend the tax until September 2031 or until the city's existing long-term bond debt is paid in full.

March 2011 is when the city originally passed the increase, which brings the sales tax to 9.5%.

The extension was passed by a vote of four to two.
