Retailers Already Hiring Holiday Helpers

By Alabama News Network

With the holiday season practically here already, retailers are looking to hire seasonal workers in the Montgomery area.

Target is one of the local businesses that's hiring for the holiday season and you can apply right here in the store at one of their kiosks.

Signs in the store point to Halloween, but it will be nothing but Christmas by next week.
Target is looking for 75 people to help put the store in the holiday spirit.
"We've got anything from cashiers, we're hiring for food avenue, we're looking for people on our sales floor doing soft lines, hard lines, back room, we've got early morning options. Basically, anything all over the store we're hiring," said Drew McDonald, Target Executive Team Leader.
But it's not just Target that's looking forward to more business this year. Stores all over the mall are expecting a bump in sales over last year.
"I know a lot of our big stores, our chain stores are looking for a lot of holiday help and this is the perfect time to look for someone between now and the middle of November," said Suzanna Wasserman, East Dale Mall Director of Marketing.
Wasserman recommends going to apply in person, especially in the department stores like Belk, Sears, and JC Penny.
Stores are hoping that this year's latest gadgets will bring more people in, especially on Black Friday.
"Yeah, we're expecting sales to increase tremendously due to the new XBOX rolling out, the Playstation rolling out and the new iPad air rolling out this Friday," said McDonald.
Target expects most of these jobs to last through mid-January.
