Search Continues for Missing Boater at Lake Jordan
By Catalina Trivino

An Elmore County man is missing today after a boat was found circling without a driver on Lake Jordan.

The Alabama Marine Police says it happened on the south side of Lake Jordan near the canal entrance.

Officer Walter Lacey says police received a call around 8:30 this morning, when a boater reported seeing the small bass boat circling the waters... without a driver.

"When we made it to the area we were able to team up and get the boat stopped and under control and right now we're in the process of trying to recover a body of the missing driver," Said Officer Lacey.

Lacey says the boater is an adult male, but authorities are not releasing his name at this time.

Alabama Marine Police are searching for the man with a helicopter, divers and boats.

The marine Police are being assisted by the Elmore County Sheriff's Department, with other local and state law enforcement.

Some locals are shocked with what's happened...

"It's just scary living here and having two young boys knowing that somebody could possibly be drowning... or dead from this," Said local resident Krystal Russom.

"Not normal. So seeing that, we were getting ready to ski and sure enough they were dredging. They were looking for a body. They heard there was a boat out and about and found no person in the boat, you know, so they're just looking at the bottom, sweeping it... just trying to find him," Said boater, Dennis Torrealba.

Everything is still under investigation. Marine Police say they're working their hardest to find this man. CBS 8 News will keep you updated with more information.
