Dozens of Demopolis residents rallied Thursday night in support of the city's former fire chief, who was dismissed from the job nearly two weeks ago.

Supporters of former fire  chief Ronnie Few want to know the reason why he wasn't reappointed by the city council.

Few addressed supporters and told them the fire department is in better shape now than it was when he came.

Supporters say the next step is to take their concerns before the full council.

The council voted not to reappoint Few by a four-to-two vote that split along racial lines.
