House Speaker Mike Hubbard said a run for Governor is not likely in 2014, but he leaves the option on the table for 2018.

Hubbard made the statement in a CBS 8 news interview about his newly released book Storming the Statehouse Wednesday.

The book details the GOP's playbook in the 2010 election to take the majority of the Legislature for the first time in 136 years.

But as far as taking the office of the Governor himself anytime soon, Hubbard said no.

"I'm not running for governor in 2014, that's for sure. I'm enjoying being in the House of Representatives. It is an honor. I love the institution of the House of Representatives. I enjoy being able to get things done. [I] have a great relationship with Governor Bentley. And I don't know what my future is like. In 2018, it might be something I consider," Hubbard said.

When asked if he would run if Gov. Robert Bentley decides to not run for re-election, he said "We'll have to see."

Speaker Hubbard will be in Montgomery Thursday for a book signing at Books-A-Million in Eastchase from 7pm until 9pm.
