State Employees Celebrate National Health and Fitness Day

By Jamie Langley

State Employees are beating the clock, beating the heat and beating their busy schedules to be healthy.

It's National Health and Fitness Day at the state Capitol.

It's a non competitive event designed to encourage walking during the workday as part of a fitness routine.

The employees are setting their own pace and walking a mile -- two laps around the capitol.

Healthy snacks and drinks are also a part of the walk.

With the high obesity rate in the river region, some state employees say it gives them motivation.
