Montgomery police say two people have been arrested in North Carolina and charged with capital murder in a woman's shooting death.

Ashley Cheatham, 20, was found shot to death in front of a home on Lower Wetumpka Road Monday morning. She was the city's 18th homicide victim of the year.

Police say her husband, Marquis Cheatham, was taken into custody at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he is an active duty Marine. Police say Dominique Atkinson of North Carolina has also been charged with capital murder.

Police say Atkinson is Marquis Cheatham's girlfriend. Investigators say he was on a three-day pass when the victim was killed.

Police say both suspects will be sent from North Carolina to Montgomery and will be held without bond.
