Verne's Balloon Adventure Comes to Montgomery

It is the first of Jules Verne's adventure novels and now it's a play coming right here to Montgomery.

"Around the World in 80 Days" remains one of Verne's best known works and now you get the chance to see it brought to life at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

The first show was last night, but you have plenty of chances to go and enjoy some local theatre until May 19th.

Even though it may not have all of the same elements as Verne's vision, it's certainly something to go check out.

"Back in the 50's, there was a movie with a balloon and the play doesn't have a balloon, but it has something else, which is in the same ways, even better," said Producing Artistic Director Geoffrey Sherman.

Sherman added, "So I'm hoping that people will come out of curiosity...to see that something else."

Tickets can be purchased either at the ASF box office or on their website at ASF.net.
