It's hard to believe but back to school time is just around the corner.

Today, Woodland United Methodist Church teamed up with bBaptist Hospital and other non profit groups for the 8th annual back to school blast.

Every year around a thousand people come to get health checks, eye exams and even dental checks for kids heading back to school.

The first 600 children received book bags filled with school supplies to help get them ready for school.

And it's all a free gift to the community.

Organizers say back to school can be a stressful and expensive time for parents and they say this event helps ease that financial hardship and let students meet each other before classes kick off.
