Meanwhile in Millbrook some other students are doing some hands-on learning at the annual fishing rodeo.
Today was the 12th year for the event at the Alabama Wildlife Federation's Lanark Nature Center.
The youth rodeo brought out about 300 young anglers.
They were able to cast their lines for a big catch and they had some luck.
Catching fish between two and five pounds and the best part was they got to take home some of what they caught.
Up to five catfish per child.
Participants tell us it's an event that seems to grow every year.
Organizers say they hope the rodeo instills a lifelong love of fishing in young people.
