"A Night of Remembrance" Planned in Eclectic to Mark Tornado Anniversary

By Katy Sulhoff

"A Night of Remembrance" in Eclectic will remember the tragedy of the April 27th tornadoes and pay special tribute to the volunteers who helped in the aftermath.

The event, marking the one year anniversary of the tornadoes, is this Friday.

Several people are lined up to speak including State Representative Barry Mask who represents that district. A moment of silence will be observed at 8:23 pm marking when the tornado hit.

Anyone who helped in the recovery process, no matter how big or small, is invited.

"Anybody who did anything is worthy of a thank you because I can remember people that showed up here one day for a couple of hours just as well as I can remember some groups of people were here for days and every bit of help mattered," said volunteer Chad Baker.

The event is Friday at 7:00pm at the Myers Acres Mobile Home Park -- one of the hardest hit areas in Elmore County.
