Mayor says YES to Federal Grant money

Mayor Todd Strange gave checks to a dozen non-profit groups, many that deal with homeless and domestic violence issues. yet the Alabama Congressional delegation supports the budget cuts that resulted in those smaller checks: "Like senator Shelby told me one time, I'm against earmarks, but if there are going to be earmarks, then we should get every dollar we can because my situation, these are dollars that make a degree of difference. there going to go somewhere, so let's get 'em and when they get cut out, then obviously we have to make adjustments."

 

 

 

 

 

Montgomery officials handed out hundred of thousands of dollars worth of checks to non-profit agencies this week, but it was less money than in previous years.
