Help has come for high school girls who need a prom dress, but simply can't afford it.

CBS 8, along with sister stations ABC 32 and The CW, has teamed with the River Region United Way and Jim Massey cleaners for the Clear Channel Montgomery 4th Annual Prom Dress Drive.

More than 800 dresses were donated by people in the River Region and across the South.

The dresses have been cleaned and pressed by Jim Massey cleaners.

Jim Massey said despite the large amount of dresses donated, the drive got off to a much slower start.

"It started slower than we had hoped for then all of a sudden, Taylor Bryant & everyone got behind the United Way and our people at the stores they started pushing it and we went from a slow start and had a strong finish and broke the goal that we were hoping to."

The giveaway is Monday 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the back entrance of the Acadome on Alabama State University's campus.

The dresses are available on a first come, first serve basis and one address is allowed per student.
