The Hayneville City council is expected to discuss the fate of their police chief at a meeting. Mayor Kelvin Lawrence say police chief Kevin Mitchell has been suspended for a week without pay. He says Mitchell was suspended for insubordination. According to Lawrence, Mitchell tried to arrest Lowndes County School superintendent Daniel Boyd. The incident stemmed from a recent guilty plea by a former middle school employee to a charge of enticing a child for immoral purposes.
