From the CBS 8 South Alabama Newsroom-- The Crenshaw County Highway Department struggles to repair serious road damage.

County engineers say about 20 roads across Crenshaw County are barricaded because of rain damage. They say one of the worst is Mulberry Road, where about 30 people live.

County Engineer, Benji Sanders, says his department has to prioritize with what little funds they have to work with. He says they have patched several areas of Mulberry Road.

Sanders says the temporary fix doesn't hold up for long and he is hopeful the state will help provide funding soon.

"People have been very patient in a lot of cases but some of the roads have been impassable for several weeks now and people are getting a little frustrated, just like we are," says Sanders.

"I was coming up that hill and my car just sat there and I had to back up and spin for it to get out and I was coming up it one day and did the same thing," says Brenda Owens.

County officials say they are working with FEMA but they don't know how much funding they will be given.
