7 Butler Co. Employees Resign After Gas Pump InvestigationCBS 8 News is covering Butler County where the sheriff's office is investigating several county road department employees for allegedly stealing gas. County Engineer, Dennis McCall, tells CBS 8 he suspected employees of stealing gas from the county pump when the bill was unusually high. The Butler County Sheriff's office launched a 2 month long investigation and set up surveillance at the pump. The sheriff says several of the employees have confessed. McCall says so far, 7 employees have resigned from their position. He says some have been with the county for over 20 years. "Anything like this with you work with a small crew like this it's uh you get to know individuals. These are all good people none of these are bad guys they get caught up in some things that they shouldn't have been involved with," says McCall. Sheriff Harden says the employees have NOT been charged and will go to Grand Jury in September. The case is still under investigation.
