Several bridges will be receiving improvements in Covington County.

Two bridges will be replaced in the coming months as part of the state's ongoing initiative to make Alabama roadways safer.

This includes a bridge on Bay Branch Road near Andalusia, as well as one on County Road 89 on the south end of the county.

County engineer Dennis McCall says the bridges need replacing because they've deteriorated throughout the years.

He says they hope to begin construction by the first of next year.
