Andalusia Mayor Names Police Chief And Assistant Police Chief
Andalusia officially has a police chief today after nearly six months as interim.
Working with the Andalusia Police Department for his entire 20 year law enforcement career, Hudson says he started as a patrol officer and worked his way up, "My leadership strategy is simple. And to better explain that I'll take some words from Paul Bear Bryant, 'Set goals, high goals, for you and your organization. When the organization has a goal to shoot for, you create team work. People working for a common goal.'"
The Mayor also named Paul Dean as Andalusia's New Assistant Chief of Police. Dean and Hudson have worked side by side for more than 15 years. Dean says that teamwork will help lead the department, "Both of us growing up in this department, we've always kind of had goals that we would like to see take place for the department to move it forward, and now we're in the unique position to work together to achieve those goals."
Hudson says in the past six months, they have restructured the department to give officers more training opportunities and opened doors with other agencies, "We've worked on mending some relationships with outside agencies and making it better where everybody works together, because if we all work together we can accomplish a lot more."
Johnson also says that although the City Council does not help in the appointments, they were in unanimous agreement with his decision.
