The Anniston Board of Education unanimously selected Darren Douthitt as their new superintendent in a meeting earlier today.

Alabama News Network spoke with Douthitt and he did not want to confirm whether or not he will accept the position until next week.

Douthitt was one of four candidates for the job. The other local finalist was superintendent of Bullock County schools Keith Stewart.

Current Anniston superintendent Joan Frazier will retire at the end of the month. Douthitt used to be the Anniston High School principal.
