Butler County courthouse boosts security with new x-ray machine
CBS 8 News is covering Greenville, where the county courthouse is stepping up security... People used to pass through the walk-through metal detector and empty everything out of their bags. But not anymore. A new aero-physics x-ray machine will now allow people to place any of their items on a conveyor belt. It uses two monitors and has features similar to x-ray machines used in an airport. Sherriff Kenny Harden says they'll be able to catch items even the naked eye cannot see, like a hidden compartment. "I think it makes security in the court house much better. We'll be able to check packages that come in. We have a lot of people come in that's got a purse, luggage and we'll be able to check it now. Before we would kind of look into it, but it's kind of hard to search purses and all that comes through here," Said Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden. Harden says the machine will provide a safer environment for the building. |
