Covington Co. Bomb Threat Caller Evaluated In Hospital

By Heather VacLav

Schools and city offices are back open Friday and there is no threat to the surrounding communities, according to Chief Deputy Ronnie Whitworth with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office.

Thursday the Covington County District Attorney's office received a call about someone planning to blow up a government building in the county.

Covington County and the Opp and Andalusia city governments closed all municipal buildings, and school was let out early in Andalusia.

Police found the caller driving in Houston County, but did not find any traces of a bomb with him or at his home in Coffee County.

The caller is currently being mentally evaluated at a regional hospital.
