By Catalina Trivino

A domestic violence shelter in Opp is closing its doors.

The Opportunity House will be closing at the end of the month due to financial issues. The District Attorney's office says operational costs were about $5,000 a month. Managers of the Opportunity House say the shelter has been hit with budget cuts the last 12 years. The closest shelter for domestic violence victims in Covington County will now be in Montgomery.
