The Greenville City Police Department is receiving some new equipment. Four police cars recently joined the team... And Chief Lonzo Ingram says the new Crown Victorias are
more dependable and larger in size... and they'll last a long time.
A ten thousand dollar grant by the Bureau of Justice Assistance helped pay for fifty percent of the vests and funding for the police cars has been budgeted since last year.
The car's light bar will use a traffic advisor to guide people on the highways.
And they'll also be welcoming 34 new bulletproof vests, which is to abide by their Mandatory Wear Policy for officer safety.
Chief Ingram says he is so glad for the update on equipment.
"As technology advances, the vests are more lightweight and more comfortable to wear and that certainly helps our guys on the street. And especially for the summertime when it gets very hot. So, comfort is certainly a factor."
