Greenville City Fire Department Receives Approval for New Fire Truck
The Greenville City Fire Department will have some extra help in the following months... They'll be welcoming a new fire truck soon. The city council recently approved to send bids to different fire equipment vendors for the custom-built fire engine. It'll be a pumper truck built with the usual equipment load to meet the National Fire Protection Association. But Fire Chief, Mike Phillips, says adding the truck means more updated and dependable equipment. He says it's sure to provide even better service to the community. "One of the trucks that we have at this present time has very high-milage and is well-used. And we feel like it's time to move up to another pumper so we have a little better opportunity to provide good service to the people," Said Phillips. Phillips says their oldest truck will be kept as a reserve vehicle in case of emergencies and the new one should be ready to use in about eight months. |
