Greenville High School Students Chalk Downtown Greenville

By Catalina Trivino

Greenville High School students take ordinary sidewalk chalk and create art.

About 25 students chalked the sidewalks in downtown Greenville with murals of paintings by artists like Picasso, Monet and Andy Warhol.

Some of the murals were created by the students themselves. It's all to celebrate "You Gotta Have Art" Day,  an annual tradition where art students chalk the streets before the premier of Greenville's annual community production, "Puttin' on the Ritz," which debuts Thursday night.

Art teacher, Stacey Edwards, says while the artwork isn't permanent, it gives people something to stop and look at as they're walking through downtown.
