CBS 8 News is covering Georgiana, where country fans are gearing up for the Hank Williams Festival...

The fun is happening all weekend long and it's a show fans say you won't want to miss.

I went to Georgiana this morning and people were already claiming seats for the big event.

It's the thirty-third annual Hank Williams Festival, held to celebrate the legendary singer's music and raise money for his museum, which used to be his home.

The festival features plenty of food, fun, and lots of music, including this year's lineup: Moe Brandy, Jeremy Parsons, Larry Gatlin and of course, Jett Williams.

They're calling it a "mini Opry" with country entertainment lasting two full days.

Georgiana Mayor, Mike Middleton, says he's had this weekend marked on his calendar for months.

"We're hoping it's going to be the best one yet," Said Middleton. "Music-wise, we've got some of the best entertainment we've ever had before and we just hope that people get here to enjoy it."

Several other artists will hit the stage including Three-Lanes Crossing, Badhorse and Greenville's own, Kevin Sport.

The Butler County native moved to Nashville to become a country artist, but realized a bigger dream of his own.

He's the producer of his show called "The Right Place" where he interviews and performs with country stars and up-and-coming songwriters following their OWN musical dreams.

He says this is his home... it's where it all started for him. And being a part of the Hank William's Festival means the world to him.

"It's special because yes, this is where I'm from, personally, but it's special to be associated with the festival," Said Sport. "It's Hank Williams and everyone should come to this event. There's really not another festival like this."

The festival may be close to home for many, but some say they've traveled a long way to join the weekend festivities.

"Oh, we're excited," Said traveler, Robert Cunningham. "We came all the way from Birmingham for the 33rd Annual Hank William's Fest here in Georgiana and got our friends from Niceville Florida, the Websters, that are coming. We have dear friends from Nashville Tennessee, too. Their names are Melanie Cannon and Elaine McMillan. They're going to be playing tonight and we came all the way down to see them, as well."

The music will continue tomorrow morning. Gates will open at 8 a.m. And admission is twenty-five dollars.
