By Elise Burkart

CBS 8 News is covering Andalusia where a student at Lurleen B Wallace Community College is being nationally recognized.

B.J. Ammons, of Red Level, has made the list as one of the top 20 community college students in the United States, being named to the 2012 All USA Community College Academic Team.

Ammons was selected from over 1700 nominations.

LBW president, Herbert Reidel, says Ammons is an exceptional student and will certainly leave his mark on the faculty, staff, and students.

Ammons says his success couldn't have happened without LBW.

"I graduated from Red Level High School and each year at Red Level we don't really have that many students typically go to college. Hopefully, I'll encourage students from Red Level to pursue their dreams," says Ammons.

Ammons is involved in numerous organizations at LBW and has a 3.955 GPA.
