Butler Co. Manhunt Ends with Suspect in Custody.

By Ashley Thompson

Authorities find suspect, Scott Braley, in woods after five hour search.

The manhunt began when Butler Co. drug task force attempted to pull Braley over because they say he was driving a stolen car.

Braley did not pull over, but instead lead authorities on a high speed chase, before crashing his car and fleeing by foot into the woods near US Highway 31, south of Greenville.

Both the Butler County Sheriff's Office and Greenville police searched the wooded area using tracking dogs.

"This has been about a 5 hour chase," says Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden. "The dog handlers from Atmore did an outstanding job. They had went over six miles chasing him and then we got the call that he was here in town, somebody saw him. And we were able to bring the dogs over here and they got on him here in town and was able to apprehend him."

Braley was chased more than 10 miles total before he was ultimately captured.
