Miracle Field League in Covington County
By Elise Burkart

CBS 8 News is covering Covington County where the ball is rolling on the Miracle Field Baseball League at Johnson Park but in order to complete the project, they need more funding.

Several entities across the county have come together to raise enough money to start the Miracle League.

There are about 600 children in Covington County with special needs and officials say having this program to offer will be wonderful.

But volunteer, Dwight Mikel, says they are still about $400,000 short in order to build the handicap accessible playground to go with it. Mikel says they're asking for donations and they're determined to try to make it happen.

"Every time we have visited a miracle field, we've found that there has been an inclusive playground. An extensive, inclusive playground with each of those facilities and that's something we feel is just a necessary component of a project like this," says Mikel.

If you would like to help, call Barbara Tyler at the City of Andalusia. 334-222-3312.

Officials are hoping to have the money raised by June to build the playground by Labor Day weekend.
