Opp City Schools Adding New Security Measures

When Opp City School students begin school in August, it will be under new security measures.

Superintendent, Michael Smithart, says the measures were put into place to better protect students and staff alike.

He said the system will work using doors with magnetic locks, cameras and a monitoring system. Staff will have I.D. badges that will work as keys, and will be able to lock and unlock doors with a push of a button.

Board members say they are thrilled to hear of the safety measures. The cost for the project is estimated at $34,000.
